Assignment: Deep Lexical Semantics

Pick a domain. Pick 5 to 10 words in this domain.

Find 10 to 20 examples of their use in some corpus.

Determine how many senses of the words are represented in your examples; determine what concepts are needed to define and distinguish these word senses.

Divide these concepts into those that should be provided by some background theory and those that should be explicated in the theory of your domain.

For the background theory concepts, what are the principal facts about the concepts that you need for your domain?

For the concepts in your domain, what are the principal facts you need to define the word senses you identified?

Encode the latter facts in logic; define the word senses in logic.
